Alastair Leithead ventures into the Hindu Kush mountains to the Wakhan Corridor, a forgotten but peaceful corner of Afghanistan, to meet a British doctor and his family who are helping some of the poorest people on earth.
Alex Duncan is making house calls in his village. But the doctor isn`t dealing with the usual complaints about aching joints and colds.
Instead he`s saving the lives of some of the world`s poorest people in one of its most remote corners.
Englishman Alex and his wife Eleanor have given up everything to move to the mountainous Wakhan Corridor in northern Afghanistan with their four young children. They have left behind a comfortable family home in Sussex to live in a single-room mud hut high in a freezing valley.
